The Government of Rwanda will adopt a new coffee policy to improve the yield and quality of coffee cultivation. The policy aims to improve the capacity of coffee cultivation research, use science and technology to increase production and effectively prevent pests and droughts, strengthen the supporting industry of coffee, and ensure the operation and profitability of coffee processing plants. It is reported that 40% of Rwanda's coffee has been processed, which will increase the export value by 10-20%, greatly increasing the added value of the product. Rwanda's previous coffee policy was formulated in 1998 and can no longer meet the requirements of the government's economic development poverty reduction plan and agricultural transformation strategy. Rwanda now plans to increase its coffee export revenue by 18% a year and strives to produce nearly 25 million tons of coffee this year.
