Every Friday morning, a group of warm-blooded volunteers bring coffee beans, gas ovens and snacks to the streets of Taipei to make hot coffee and share it with cyclists who ride to work and class. this group of volunteers is the Taiwan Urban Bicycle Alliance, which encourages people to respond to Green Transport. Through a cup of fragrant coffee to awaken the spleen and stomach of passers-by, the mood is also awakened, happily embarked on a journey to the destination, sending coffee only for a simple belief, "I hope you can go to work and school by bike." Although it rains more than a hundred days a year in Taipei, on average, more than 600 cups of coffee are delivered at 12 stations between 07:30 and 09:30 every Friday.

As more and more cyclists responded, volunteers had to ask coffee shops to support coffee beans for free, which unexpectedly caused the smell of coffee on more and more street corners in Taipei. Today, in addition to drinking coffee on 12 street corners in Taipei, the tentacles are also extended to Tainan and Kaohsiung, and the environmental seeds planted by this group of volunteers have already sprouted.

Chen Pu, founder of the bicycle commuter day on Friday, said that he likes to go to work by bike, but he sees that many environments are unfriendly to cyclists. In order to break through this dilemma, he knows very well that Taipei people love coffee and uses coffee delivery to encourage people to ride bicycles. Last year, he excitedly brought a pot of hot coffee at the intersection of Zhongxiao Dunhua in Taipei for the first time, but only four people received it. Some silver-haired people even asked, "can coffee be exchanged for soy milk or hot tea?" . At the beginning, there was no banner or publicity, but it was once mistaken by passers-by for fundraising or manufacturers' marketing activities, and it needed to constantly explain and convey ideas before it was gradually understood by the public.

"Apple" went to the sidewalk at the exit of the MRT Sanmin Station in Nanjing last Friday. Early in the morning, he saw the barista grinding coffee beans at the scene. The fragrance of beans on the scene was no less than that of a professional coffee shop. Each cup of hand-made coffee conveyed the concept of environmental protection. In the streets of Xilai in the early morning, high school students, office workers and old men who were busy with fitness stopped their bikes to pick up a cup of coffee, and even when foreigners came riding YouBike. Can't help but wonder why there is free coffee available? There are also cyclists who bring their own environmental protection cups to further implement the spirit of environmental protection.

An office worker surnamed Lai says that cycling from Taipei Station to work nearby every day does attract people to ride a bike, and it's comfortable to have a cup of coffee when the weather turns cold. A female civil servant who works in the Taipei city government reveals that she will specially ride her bike to the city government station, just because the barista is super-stylish, which is another beautiful scenery on the streets of Taipei.

Zhan Kaisheng, director of the Taiwan City Bicycle Alliance, who works as a computer engineer at Yahoo in Taiwan, said that in the early days, looking for a shop to sponsor coffee was also shot. After all, the competition in the coffee shop was fierce, but there was also the store owner's support of the concept. Even the barista even went to the street to make coffee, some sites provided barreled coffee, and the stationmaster even had to get up at 5: 00 in the morning.

The Taiwan City Bicycle Alliance says that at present, Taipei is sponsored by the public sector, but it is still a spontaneous activity in Tainan and Kaohsiung, and it still relies on many volunteers and enthusiastic shopkeepers to help promote and share the concept of green transportation. The purpose of this activity is to change people's commuting habits. I hope that people will respond to cycling and regard cycling as an interesting and environmentally friendly activity. I also hope to build a healthy future for children and hope that children can go to school by bike in the future.

Wang Qiongzhu, section chief of the North City Transportation Bureau, said that the city government cooperated with the free coffee drinking activity on bicycle commuter day, which was held mostly at bicycle junctions or next to MRT stations, and the satisfaction of the interviewees had reached 90%. Compared with 2 million MRT people and millions of bus people every day, it is indeed difficult to estimate the transfer data of transportation, but with the construction of the bicycle network, the number of cyclists has gradually increased in recent years. Whether the bicycle commuter day will be expanded in the future will be evaluated at the end of the year. (Lin Yuanling / reporting from Taipei)
