Some retailers in Penang also took the brand durian-flavored instant coffee off the shelves for safety reasons.

Malaysian Health Minister Subramaniam Sathasivam said in a statement on February 1st that five people developed dizziness after drinking the drinks. Health Minister Datuk Seri Subarma confirmed yesterday that five victims were admitted to hospital after drinking a brand of four-in-one white coffee, which is believed to be caused by chemicals contained in the drink.

He also said that the Ministry of Health is still investigating the cause of the incident and confirming whether the chemical composition in the drink is the main cause of the victim's physical discomfort, but the chemical composition in the drink has not been confirmed. If it is confirmed that there is something wrong with the drink, the Ministry will announce the coffee brand involved and order all related products to be removed from the shelves.
