Huang Feng, an engineering man who originally majored in automotive engineering, is the owner of Beast Garden Coffee, an "online celebrity coffee shop" in Chongqing. Starting in the spring of 2017, he spent three days in the city and four days as a farmer in the mountains, and spent a year and a half building cafes, restaurants, gardens, vegetable plots and ponds.

"Pumen eternity" is to design and develop a sustainable life system, to find all kinds of imitable ecological relations in nature, and to design the environment with natural aesthetics rather than human aesthetics. it emphasizes the harmonious and scientific space and life between man and nature.

Huang Feng moved the design concept of "Pumen Sustainable" to the cafe on the mountain. There is a banana ring outside the cafe, which is not planted at random. Huang Feng explained that because the roots of plantains tend to absorb rotten food waste and then digest it as their own fertilizer. So every day, the oil-free kitchen waste is poured into the banana ring, saving fertilizer, and the plantain grows tall and strong.

In the vegetable garden outside the cafe, thick soil is used to grow, thick mulch can stop weeds and keep the soil moist, organic matter will provide nutrients for crops when they decompose, and fertile soil will also attract earthworms to do the work of loosening the soil, eliminating the need to turn the soil manually.

Build "hotels" for insects to spend the winter

Here, the idea that "nature is the best teacher" is brought into play to the extreme. Huang Feng uses all kinds of recycled waste, such as waste plastic pipes, waste wood, litter and straw bark, to build an "insect hotel" to provide them with a place to live and survive the winter.

The ground floor of the "insect Hotel" is brick rubble to build resting and winter places for amphibians such as frogs; the second floor is clusters of hollow bamboos, plastic straws, hollow bricks and drilled logs, designed as a honeycomb structure to attract bees, which begin to pollinate fruit trees every March; the third floor fills flowerpots with hay and buckles them upside down to attract oysters, which feed mainly on aphids. The top layer is hollow straw, with branches of thorns and roses, which provide shelter for aphid flies and other insects.

In this way, it is helpful to improve the diversity of insects and control insects with insects. On the one hand, it saves resources and protects the environment, on the other hand, it strengthens the natural characteristics of the farm.

A self-sufficient cafe

The back garden has a Peruvian alpaca and two ponies, one named Coffee and the other called Milk. Guests can bathe them in the morning.
