During the 2018-2019 harvest season so far, profits from Honduran coffee fell 28% from the same period the previous year.
According to the website Central America Link, Honduras is the leader in the manufacture and export of coffee in Central America. Revenue from October last year to March this year was about $365 million, down 28% from $550 million in the same period the previous year, according to Acer Coffee.
The Honduran newspaper La Tribuna reported that the problem was not caused by low exports, but by falling prices in the international market, which led to a drop in earnings this year.
