Indonesian authorities have previously approved the use of new crown vaccines produced by Kexing, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, Moderna and Pfizer.

Afghan refugee demonstrations

According to a Reuters report on August 24, hundreds of Afghan refugees held protests on the streets of Indonesia to oppose their cumbersome and lengthy resettlement process. Many refugees from Afghanistan have been living in Indonesia for years, most of them belonging to the Hazara ethnic minority, which has long been persecuted by the Taliban.

Refugees say repatriation is impossible with the Taliban returning and they urgently need a new home.
