In a recent independent auction, the famous Lamastus family broke the record for the most expensive coffee in the world at a price of more than $6000 per pound.

The Lamastus private auction, hosted by auction house Sensible Coffee, took place on Tuesday, September 6, Panamanian time. A total of 24 lots came from three estates of the Lamastus family: Elida, El Burro and Luito.

According to the Ramastus Family Manor (Lamastus Family Estates) in Panama, a total of 1762 pounds of Rosa coffee beans made a net profit of $601000, with an average price of $341.24 per pound.

In this auction, the Rose Summer bid for the Ramastus family estate came from the Rose Summer in the Aguacatillo lot of Arida Manor, and the winning bid was US $6034 per pound. According to the official website, the batch of rose summer coffee is planted at the highest point of Arida Manor, which is much higher than 2000 meters above sea level and produces only 7 pounds, using honey treatment.

The group of bidders who won the batch were Oklao Specialty Coffee, Clay Coffee Collective, The Espresso Lab and Black Gold Specialty Coffee, which bought the 7-pound honey-treated Rosa beans for a total of $42238.

Sensible Coffee, the organizer of the auction, said of the record-breaking coffee, "in the auction that lasted more than seven hours, we saw the record price of coffee broken again!"

In an Instagram post reviewing the auction, the Ramastus Family Manor (Lamastus Family Estates) said: "We are very grateful to everyone who participated in the auction and everyone in the industry, who are part of this huge milestone. Most importantly, the brand value of Panamanian Rosa rose with this achievement. "

The record for the price of the most expensive raw coffee beans in 2021 is held by Nugo Manor in Panama. At last year's BOP auction, a 94.75-cent anaerobically treated rose summer coffee at Nugo Manor in Panama sold for $2568 a pound, or $256800.

The ranking of the 2022 BOP competition will be announced in early August, and the auction will begin at 7: 00 a. M. Beijing time on October 7, when the price of the BOP bid will eventually be announced.
