Yesterday, the Hong Kong Consumer Council published an article in the latest issue of Choice monthly magazine,"Drinking Water Siyuan 30 Bottled Water Taste, Minerals, and Safety Testing". The article stated that the Consumer Council tested 30 of the more common bottled waters on the market in Hong Kong and discussed the sample test results in categories.
Among them, when testing natural mineral water, it was found that Nongfu Spring and Baisuishan were found to contain 3 micrograms of bromate per liter of drinking water, reaching the maximum bromate content set by the European Union for ozone-treated natural mineral water and springs. Limit.
It is reported that during the process of ozone disinfection and sterilization of drinking water, the naturally occurring bromide in the water will generate bromate substances under the action of ozone. Ingestion of large amounts of bromate can cause nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea in the user, which may affect the kidneys and nervous system in severe cases. According to classification by the World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), bromate is classified as a Class 2B carcinogen and has a potential carcinogenic risk.

In response to this matter, Nongfu Spring issued a response on various platforms this morning, saying that it had entrusted a Hong Kong lawyer to send a lawyer's letter to the Hong Kong Consumer Council, believing that the publication of the Consumer Council's article caused panic among consumers in Hong Kong and the mainland and gave products to companies that are fully compliant and qualified have caused huge losses and negative impacts. Therefore, we solemnly request the Hong Kong Consumer Council to immediately provide written clarifications, apologize and eliminate all negative impacts caused by the article.

The Consumer Council of Hong Kong reiterated that monthly articles, press releases and other summons documents, as well as speeches at the press conference, all clearly pointed out that no harmful substances were found in all 30 test samples that exceeded the relevant WHO guidelines, and all samples can be drunk with peace of mind.
