Recently, the Sing Tao headline reported that the Hong Kong Department of Health said that members of the public had complained about a product called "Dongge Ali instant coffee". The results of the Government Laboratory test showed that the product sample contained sildenafil, an ingredient that was not labeled as a controlled drug.
It is reported that sildenafil is a prescription drug for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. It can only be used on the advice of a doctor and must be purchased at a pharmacy under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
According to the Department of Health, the drug has side effects such as hypotension, headache, vomiting, dizziness and temporary blurred vision. It may also interact with certain drugs, such as nitroglycerin, which is used to treat angina pectoris, bringing blood pressure down to dangerous levels. Improper use of sildenafil can pose a serious health risk, especially for patients with heart problems. Therefore, appeal to the majority of consumers not to buy or take.
However, the reporter found that online shopping platform HKTVmall still sells another brand "Araon Adam Dongge Ali instant coffee". Although the product is not the "FIRSTWELL" brand Dongge Ali instant coffee pointed out by the Department of Health, the outer packaging of the two products are similar, and the ingredients of the products are similar, including Arabica coffee, Dongge Ali extract, Maka extract and Guanana extract.
In addition, there is also a drinking suggestion on the "Aaron Adam" brand packaging, which means one serving at a time, not more than two servings per week. The introduction also points out that the product cannot replace drugs and is not registered under the Pharmacy and Poisons Ordinance or the Chinese Medicine Ordinance. The efficacy of the product may vary depending on physical condition, age, living habits and other factors.
In response to this, HKTVmall replied that it was aware of the appeal of the Department of Health and was following up the incident. It was temporarily found that a merchant had sold the relevant product and had removed the product from the shelves. Later, it would take the initiative to issue a notice to customers who had purchased the product, and give discretionary treatment and refund. Then the reporter found at 11:00 on the same day that although the online shopping platform can still search for "Dongge Ali instant coffee", it shows that the goods have been removed from the shelves.
HKTVmall said that if a merchant is found to have illegally sold a product, he will immediately remove the product from the shelves and impose a fine on the merchant. For serious cases, the platform will also cooperate with merchants in planting. HKTVmall pointed out that the platform has a quality inspection department to lay down stringent standards for merchants and constantly conduct spot checks and inspections on the products sold by merchants to ensure that the products sold by merchants comply with regulations and standards.
A spokesman for the Department of Health strongly urged members of the public not to buy products with unknown ingredients or acceptable ingredients, nor to take products of unknown origin. All registered pharmaceutical products must have a registration number on the package. The safety, quality and efficacy of unregistered pharmaceutical products are not guaranteed. Members of the public who have purchased the above products are advised to stop using them immediately. If you feel unwell after taking the product, you should seek the advice of the medical staff in time.
