Qingdao a cafe turned into a "mini library"

The government library distributes and replaces books for cafes free of charge, and more than 260 cafes in the region have been transformed into "mini libraries", meeting the reading needs of citizens and tourists, especially young people, and creating a good atmosphere for bookish cities.

"We have distributed the first batch of nearly 3000 books from the library, such as literature and history, social sciences, tourism and leisure, to a coffee shop in Coffee Street in Qingdao, turning the cafe into an off-site book service point that can provide reading experience." Fang Jian, director of the Culture, Press and publication Bureau and Tourism Bureau of the Southern District of Qingdao, told reporters that in the future, the government hopes to open a mini library with a capacity of more than 2000 books in conditional cafes.

"Qingdao Coffee Street is located in the old city around University Road. Six years ago, there was the first coffee shop here, and now there are more than 40. " Wang Jian, secretary of the Party work Committee of the Qingdao Jie Road Office, told the reporter that every peak tourist season, young students and domestic and foreign tourists flow in an endless stream, and it is often difficult to find a coffee shop. Reading activities such as "browsing Qingdao" are especially suitable for consumers in cafes. This fashionable and novel carrier can better cater to and guide the reading habits of young people.

Fang Jian said that at present, there are more than 260 cafes in Shinan District alone. by distributing books to cafes free of charge and replacing the form of circulation on a regular basis, the government has realized the transformation of reading experience from single-point gathering to global flowering, so that citizens and tourists can experience the fun of reading while tasting coffee and enjoying leisure with the lowest time cost and the most comfortable and convenient way.
