Starbucks will launch single cup coffee products to go on sale in March next year
Starbucks Co.(SBUX) said it will launch Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. in the U.S. starting in November, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday. (GMCR) coffee packs for single-cup coffee makers, which consumers will be able to buy in grocery stores and specialty retail outlets.
The move will expand Starbucks 'presence in the nearly $2 billion single-cup coffee market and dispel speculation that Starbucks will launch its own single-cup coffee machine, although the company has not ruled out such a plan in the future.
Starbucks single-cup coffee will be sold in Canada starting in March and through direct-sales websites starting in August. The company also plans to sell the product through Starbucks retail stores in the U.S. and Canada later in 2012.
