Japanese cat coffee shop is allowed to open until 10:00 in the evening
A few days ago, the Japanese government ordered pet shops to ban business between 8pm and 8am under the Animal hobby Protection Law, RecordJapan reported. The bill has also had an impact on popular pet coffee shops, with some store officials saying they may go out of business if it goes on.
But consumers who use cat cafes have complained to the government that cats are already nocturnal animals, so they want to be allowed to stay open after 8pm. After being asked to review the matter again, Japan's Ministry of Environment Review Council said that if "cats are over 1 year old and can move freely in the shop," they will be temporarily allowed to open until 10:00 in the evening.
The Ministry of the Environment said it would decide on a specific plan after examining the impact of the above measures on cats in the next two years.
