The Vietnamese government expects coffee exports to reach 1.2 million tons this year.
Beijing, 14 Feb (Xinhua) according to overseas media reports, Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development recently estimated that Vietnam's coffee exports are expected to reach 1.2 million tons this year, earning 3 billion US dollars in foreign exchange. The Ministry said that Vietnam's coffee exports this year will be the same as last year, but the quality will be 10% higher than last year.
In January this year, Vietnam exported 170000 tons of coffee, earning 350 million US dollars in foreign exchange, down 21 per cent and 15 per cent from the same period last year. In addition, the decline in coffee prices in the international market has also affected Vietnam's domestic sales prices. as of the end of January this year, the price of Dak Lak coffee in central Vietnam was 3.4% lower than at the beginning of this year, to only US $1.70 per kilogram.
Vietnamese coffee is currently exported to nearly 80 countries and regions in the world, with the United States, Germany and Belgium as its largest export markets.
