Most refreshing drinks contain caffeine
Researchers at the University of Florida called on products that flooded the market and billed as pick-me-up drinks to contain caffeine. In addition to analyzing 10 best-selling pick-me-up drinks, the researchers also analyzed 19 carbonated drinks and 7 other best-selling drinks. The results show that many pick-me-up drinks contain twice as much caffeine as typical carbonated drinks, but the caffeine content varies from brand to brand, even from the same brand; for example, 12 pounds of original Coca-Cola has 29 milligrams of caffeine, but Diet Coca-Cola contains 30 milligrams of caffeine and Diet Coke lime contains 39.6 milligrams of caffeine.
