It is reported that the trial planting work began at the end of April this year, and the first trial planting area is about 3 square meters. "Trial planting coffee is the work requirement of Xizang subtropical fruit planting area proposed by the People's Government of the Autonomous Region and the Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Department of the Autonomous Region, so it is selected to be planted in Chayu County." Dawa Dunzhu told reporters.

The reason why Chayu was chosen is that the average altitude of Chayu County and Motuo County in Nyingchi City is relatively low, and the climate belongs to subtropical climate." Chayu County is located in the southeast of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is one of the important border counties in Xizang. With an average altitude of 2300 meters, it belongs to the subtropical humid climate zone of Himalayas. It has mild seasons, abundant precipitation, sufficient sunshine and long frost-free period. With its unique climate and environment advantages, the local area has become one of the first choice places for coffee trial planting in Xizang.

After successful trial planting, coffee will be created in the future.

The reporter learned from Chayu County Forestry Bureau that the first trial coffee planting site was Shama Village, Xiachayu Town. This time, 500 grams of coffee were introduced from Yunnan Province, belonging to Yunnan Arabica coffee species. It is reported that the trial planting work by the Autonomous Region Academy of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Sciences and Hainan Province, Yunnan Province coffee planting experts to guide local farmers throughout the trial planting. From the current situation, the trial planting effect is good, coffee seedlings grow happily.

It is well known that coffee is only suitable for growing in the tropics or subtropics, so trying to grow coffee in the plateau will face many problems more or less. So, what is the biggest problem of growing coffee in Xizang? What protective measures should be taken against these? In response, Dawa Dunzhu said: "The biggest difficulty or problem is winter frost, once the frost will be frozen to death." Therefore, experts asked to build greenhouses during the winter to help warm coffee for the winter."

But Dawa Dunzhu said: "Since this year is only a trial planting, success or failure cannot be discussed." Of course, if the trial planting is successful, we will consider creating 'Xizang coffee'. After all, coffee is a crop with high economic value, which can drive more and more farmers to become rich together. Therefore, if the trial planting is successful in the future, it will be promoted in large areas with suitable conditions, and there is also the idea of forming a complete coffee industry chain and building 'Xizang Coffee' into a well-known brand."
