Honghualing Village of Longmen Town takes the lead in establishing economic cooperatives to help villagers get rid of poverty and become rich

Recently, the reporter walked into Honghualing Village, Longmen Town, Ding 'an County. At the east end of the village, green coffee saplings and betel nut seedlings on a flat land greedily absorb natural nutrients in the sun. The tender green leaves swing left and right with the spring breeze, bringing infinite vitality. Here is the plantation of the villager's rich agricultural development rural leisure tourism cooperative.

"Experts say that when the weather is hot, you should water the saplings more." Chen Zhengquan, a poor household in Honghualing Village who is busy in the plantation, met reporters and enthusiastically introduced that due to the hot weather in Hainan recently, he would water the saplings in the plantation every day, usually at 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. twice a day, so as to ensure that coffee saplings and betel nut seedlings could thrive.

The government takes the lead in scientific planting

"The cooperative now plants a total of 18 mu of coffee trees, which was established with the support of Longmen Town Government. The town government helped the cooperative to invest 200,000 yuan for planting, and invited experts from Hainan Province Academy of Agricultural Sciences to guide scientific planting." In Honghualing village committee, cooperative president Chen Yiyang told reporters.

It is understood that coffee trees are mainly planted in the cooperative plantation at present. Under the guidance of experts from Hainan Province Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the interplanting mode of coffee trees and areca trees has been adopted. The planting of coffee trees has also become a highlight of the cooperative.

"Longmen Town is a selenium-rich land. In the early 1980s, Honghualing villagers had a history of planting coffee trees by themselves. However, the coffee trees planted at that time were wild coffee trees. Although the coffee beans picked tasted good, they did not form a scale and could not be sold formally. Therefore, planting coffee trees has not been able to become a channel for villagers to get rid of poverty and become rich." said Liang Changheng, director of the cooperative.

Longmen Town Government has also taken into account the villagers 'worries about the problems existing on the road to prosperity. Therefore, while mainly promoting planting, it will also comprehensively promote tourism in Longmen Town, develop Honghualing Cold Spring Lake, and plan to open a cafe in the village to attract more people to taste the specialty coffee planted in the plantation.

Chen Yiyang said that only by running through the industrial chain of internal use and export of products, making the operation of cooperatives live and attracting more villagers with actual income, can villagers feel the changes in life, strive to take off the label of poverty step by step and lead villagers to become rich from then on.

Each of us will do our best to ensure the return

In terms of specific income, according to Chen Yiyang, when the cooperative develops, there will be three-party benefits. The village committee will take shares in the form of leased land and collect 30% of the final profit; poor households will share shares with labor and be responsible for daily weeding and watering of the plantation. Finally, they will share 50% of the profits together; the cooperative is responsible for operation management and market development, and 20% of the final profits belong to the cooperative. The three parties work together to make the cooperative work in order to maximize the benefits.

"We entrust the daily management of planting in cooperatives to poor households, and use the attendance system to record the work of poor households. Under normal circumstances, as long as there is work to be done in the plantation, poor households will collectively dispatch to weed and water together. Although there are only five poor households in the cooperative at present, we believe that through hard work, more and more people will see the prospects of the cooperative and join our ranks."

It is understood that under the scientific guidance of Hainan Province Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Minfu Agricultural Development Rural Leisure Tourism Cooperative Plantation planted 150 to 160 coffee tree seedlings per mu of land. After three years of planting, these coffee trees can earn about 5000 yuan per mu.

"Experts from the Academy of Agricultural Sciences said that these very small seedlings not only need to be cared for on time every day, but also need to be weeded manually frequently. The most important thing is that coffee seedlings are not suitable for pesticide application at present. Pesticide application on too small seedlings will affect their growth." Chen Zhengquan, who is busy weeding in the plantation, told reporters.

A small coffee bean ignited Honghualing's hope of getting rid of poverty, and a pair of hands from the government paved the way forward for Honghualing. The villagers of Honghua Ridge are acting because they believe that the seeds of hope they planted in spring will one day sprout and grow to illuminate their tomorrow.
