When I first moved to Kochi City in Shikoku, I thought it was difficult to find a good coffee shop here. For me, who has been writing papers in coffee shops for the past six years, this will be a small difficulty for me to adapt to living in Japan. I can imagine how surprised I was when I found that there were many coffee shops in Kochi, and many of them were within walking distance (or cycling) from my apartment. Bei Ku Pao is located at the northeast end of Kochi City, about 15 minutes by railway or on foot from Kochi Station.

After a day's work and a trip to the post office, I decided to go to the Books 3060 90 Bookstore Cafe and enjoy the coffee and cake I couldn't help eating from time to time. The environment of the coffee shop is both simple and modern, while the furniture and home furnishings sold by the adjacent store attract LARGO have the same style.

There are two kinds of cakes: mocha coffee and rose, although I generally have some reservations about flower-flavored desserts because of the unfortunate experience of eating lavender Italian ice cream. But in the end, I chose rose-flavored cake, and the cake here didn't let me down. The rose taste of the cake is the same as the overall texture of the cake, which is light and delicious. Books 3060 90, like another nearby coffee shop, tempo (coffee shops), all comes from the La Petite NEGRITA cake shop in Obiyamachi.

The coffee here is still as good as the last time I was here. Although Books 3060 90 does not sell espresso, it also sells a variety of teas in addition to ordinary dripping coffee. To my delight, there are also a variety of salty and sweet French pancakes, such as salmon lemon cream pancakes or chocolate nut pancakes. Although the store's website is only in Japanese, you can get a general idea of how good the coffee shop is just by looking at the pictures and the price.

The wall of Books 30 60 90 is full of books. On the other side is a modern furniture store called attract LARGO. Their first store opened in 2000, in the suburb of Kochi, where the municipal government was just beginning to develop, while the store next to Books 3060 90 opened six years after the first store opened. Attract LARGO products are famous for their functional beauty, including Danish-designed furniture brands Bang & Olufsen and Fritz Hansen;USM modular furniture, as well as Swiss furniture brands Vitra and Artek, each piece of furniture is simple and elegant.

There are more goods on the second floor, but in addition to the goods, there is also a small gallery and activity hall. The last time I was here, a film festival was being held here. If you want to know what exhibitions or activities are available during your visit, you can check them on their website first. The activity hall here is available for rent, and most of the space used here is for writers, artists and musicians in Kochi County to promote.

Most of the shops in Kubo look nothing special outside, and buildings decorated with sheet metal and concrete make many stores look more like warehouses than high-end stores. I may ride my bike through the street next to Books 3060 90 many times, and I won't find such a bookstore and coffee shop here. However, the Books 30 60 90, attract LARGO and other shops and cafes in this area make it worthwhile to stay in Kitakubo. After all, connotation is more important than appearance, right?
