Kaiyong Mountain Coffee Farm is located in the town of Tarro in Shakiso County, east of Guji Zone, Oromia State, southern Ethiopia. The farm is located on Mount Kaiyong, at an altitude of about 1,900 to 2,050 meters, with a total farm area of 200 hectares.

Kaiyong Mountain Coffee Farm was established in 2009 and is jointly owned by three brothers, Mr. Kedder, Mr. Hamid and Mr. Ismael, who are second generation successors. In addition to the Kaiyong Mountain coffee farm, the three brothers own five processing plants in Yega Shefi, Sidama and Guji.

Coffee is the most important agricultural product in this area. Other agricultural products are mainly fruits, such as bananas, papayas, mangoes and avocados. Banana is not only a cash crop, but also the most important shade tree species. Enest is the name of banana tree specially called as shade tree locally. In addition to banana trees, larger tree species such as acacia trees are also used as shade trees.

The batch management at Kaiyong Mountain Coffee Farm is classified according to the time of harvest, and each batch produces about 150 bags of raw beans. 2016/17 harvest statistics: washed beans yield 4 20-foot containers, sun beans yield 2 20-foot containers

The location of the farm provides excellent conditions for producing quality coffee-the soil is fertile red-brown soil and has a steady rainfall distribution. In addition to the innate conditions, the owner of the farm, Mr. Ismael, has invested in many projects in equipment to produce higher quality coffee, such as setting up shade nets on dry beds to avoid excessive sun exposure, and setting up treatment sites adjacent to the farm to shorten the transportation time of coffee cherries to the treatment site and reduce the number of variations affecting flavor.

However, the excellent geographical conditions of the farm are also the cause of many difficult challenges. The remote geographical location not only makes it difficult to connect roads, but also water supply is often one of the challenges. In addition, due to the rural area, the population is sparse, and there is often a shortage of manpower during the harvest season.

Kaiyong Mountain Farm's commitment to social responsibility is not only to assist villagers in building roads, but also to sponsor local schools to provide a better learning environment for children.
