Zambia Coffee Pastoral Nanichuo Mobuyu Manor SL28 Round Bean Water washing (Champion batch)

With regard to Zambia, in the 1950s, Zambia introduced bourbon varieties of coffee from neighboring Kenya and Tanzania. Zambian coffee has an elegant and bright acidity similar to that of Kenyan beans, but with a touch of citrus brightness. The thick and varied flavor is complex but well-balanced.

The agricultural development of Zambian coffee is very hard, because Zambia is a landlocked country, and most of the land is located on a plateau with an altitude of 1000 Murray 1500 meters above sea level. The whole territory belongs to the tropical wild climate with distinct dry and wet seasons. Usually, the tropical wild climate does not have tall and dense forest vegetation, and the winter rainfall is scarce and dry, but because it is close to the tropical rain forest climate in summer, the water is abundant and the temperature is high. The height of Lukasa itself is more than 1400 meters above sea level, and the topography of the plateau, coupled with the hydrology of shuttling parts of the region, makes the vicinity of Lukasa a vast farming area in the hinterland and the most suitable area for growing coffee in Zambia.

[Mobu Yu Manor]

Jasper Manor is located 80 kilometers south of Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, on the way to Victoria Falls. About 50 years ago, Willem Lublinkhof, the founder of Jasper Manor, came to Zambia with the Dutch Development Service to assist in the development of agriculture in the country. Soon he fell in love with the land and the people, and here he met his future wife, Meta, from Denmark, who fell in love and married in Zambia, and eventually settled down in the foothills of Munanicu.

There are abundant water resources near Mubuyu Manor, and they have poured all their enthusiasm into crops. In the beginning (from 1971), they mainly grew wheat, soybeans and other crops, and they began to grow coffee about a decade ago. In addition to the treatment plants that can operate all day and their own dams, the whole community benefits from strict agricultural ethics. It also provides coffee farmers' accommodation, schools and medical care. It is a coffee farm with sound planning and in line with internationally recognized standards.

[SL28]

SL28 is a variety from Kenya. SL is an acronym for Scott Laboratories (Scott Laboratory). It is the predecessor of the present Kenyan National Agricultural Research Laboratory NARL (National Agricultural Laboratories). Scott Lab is committed to variety improvement and has developed a series of tree species named after SL. Among the numbers from SL1 to SL40, the most famous are SL28 and SL34. SL28 is a hybrid of bourbon, mocha and Yemeni Tibica, with a sweet taste, clean and bright acidity of blackcurrant and berries, and even a sense of black plum, with such a complex and varied flavor, drought tolerance and ability to cope with heavy rain, it is very suitable for growing in eastern Africa.
