Japanese coffee manufacturer UCC Youshi Coffee Co., Ltd. has invested NT $500 million to set up a factory in the Yunlin Dou-6 Industrial Zone to introduce an independently developed roaster "AROMASTER." it will be completed today and will be put into operation in January next year, and it is expected to bring about a trend in the coffee market.

UCC Youshi Coffee Company, a well-known Japanese coffee manufacturer, purchased 1600 ping of land to build a factory in Dou Liu Industrial Zone. Last August, the ground was broken. Today, a completion ceremony was held. Chairman Chang Li Sugimoto and his team, Dou Liu Mayor Xie Shuya, legislator Liu Jianguo and people from all walks of life attended the meeting to witness Taiwan's coffee market entering a new era.

Sugimoto Changli pointed out that the Yunlin factory introduced the roaster "AROMASTER" developed by UCC alone, and the world is only set up in Japan's top six factories and Taiwan's Yunlin factory. UCC is optimistic about the long-term development of Taiwan's coffee market, and chooses to build a roaster in Yunlin, the hometown of Taiwan's coffee, hoping to realize the corporate philosophy of "from a cup of coffee to a farm."

He pointed out that "AROMASTER" uses steam baking, rapid cooling of minus 2 degrees Celsius aroma method, data control system and other technologies to create the new value of the most delicious coffee, and the heat generated in the baking process is about 75% less than that of ordinary hot air roasters, which can reduce the burden on the environment, which is both environmentally friendly and user-friendly.

Sugimoto Changli said that it was officially put into operation in January next year, with an output of about 3000 metric tons in the first year, with an annual production target of 10,000 metric tons in the future, with 30 employees initially employed. In the future, it will develop into two to three shifts depending on operating conditions, and is expected to create 80 jobs. The products include various types of coffee beans, such as industrial and household access roads.

When Dou Liu Mayor Hsieh Shu-ya was head of Gukeng Township, the implementation of the Taiwan Coffee Festival was regarded as one of the important drivers of Taiwan's coffee whirlwind. She said that during the Japanese occupation, Gukeng was introduced by the Japanese to grow coffee. Douliu once set up what is known as the largest coffee bean roasting factory in the far East. Gukeng and Douliu are the birthplaces of Taiwan's coffee industry.

Hsieh Shu-ya says that the connection between coffee and Yunlin is quite deep. The coffee beans planted in Yunlin have the original aroma of Taiwan coffee. She hopes that UCC in Japan will set up a factory to create jobs and invigorate the market in the city. She also hopes that one day, Yunlin coffee will smell good all over the world with UCC.
