The boutique Coffee Association (SCA) and the World Coffee Competition Pioneer (WCE) have announced that the World baristas Competition (WBC) and the World Coffee Brewing Competition (WBrC) will return to Melbourne, Australia in 2020. This will be the second time Australia has hosted two world-class events.

The Melbourne International Coffee Festival hosted the WBC and WBrC coffee brewing competitions in 2013, when American players Pete Licata and James McCarthy won two competitions respectively.

It is reported that the 2020 WBC and WBrC coffee brewing competition will be held at the Melbourne International Coffee Fair (MICE) on May 4-7 that year, when it will attract contestants from more than 85 member countries to compete.
