The output value of Hongguo coffee accounts for 30% of the total agricultural GDPA and 4% of the national GDP. During the period from 2016 to 2017, Honduras exported about 437,000 metric tons of coffee and earned foreign exchange of US $70 to US $1.4 billion. It is one of the most important coffee producing countries in the world, ranking first in Central America and sixth in the world, respectively. Through this visit to Honduras, we will learn from Hongguo's research experience in coffee variety and cultivation development. And actually participate in the national coffee competition held by Hongguo, in-depth understanding of its coffee quality, in order to apply it to the development of the domestic Taiwan coffee industry, visit the Coffee Association of Honduras (IHCAFE), the two sides conduct coffee development briefings and exchanges, and actually learn its coffee cultivation techniques, applied to domestic coffee cultivation counseling, in order to improve the domestic coffee yield and quality, and participate in the Honduran Coffee Cup Test (Cup of Excellent) Competition on the spot. And serve as a reference for the national coffee evaluation system in China.

Best of Honduras Late Harvest is organized by 2015 WBC world champion Sasa Sestic and his raw bean team Project Origin. Last year, 2018 was the second year, and Boulder participated in the evaluation and bidding for the second year in a row. The purpose of this bid is, of course, to encourage farmers to produce high-quality coffee, and because the elevations of cultivation in Honduras vary greatly, ranging from 1200 meters to 1700 meters. For example, in Santa Barbara producing areas, due to the high terrain, the berry ripening period is relatively late. Most Hongguo coffee production season is from January to April every year, while the harvest time of these high-altitude small farmers may be delayed to June or July. Missing the opportunity to participate in the annual Cup of Excellence Excellence Cup competition, Best of Honduras provides these late-harvested farmers with another opportunity to stand out in the boutique market and enable international buyers to interact directly with farmers face to face.

The scoring method is to adopt the COE scoring standard, which is commonly used in Central America. First, the local professional evaluation cup of Hongguo is tested to screen out the boutique coffee with more than 85 points, and then the judges from all over the world carry out a total of three rounds of cup tests to select the top 20 for online bidding by international buyers. Except for a very small part of the bid money, which needs to be paid to the Honduran Coffee Association IHCAFE (Instituto Hondure ñ o del Caf é, referred to as IHCAFE) as local transportation infrastructure, research and development expenses, small farmers can almost get the full price, which is really a far cry from the market price sold directly to local exporters, and is nothing more than the most direct income and help for farmers. I recall that on the day of the award ceremony, the top 20 farmers were invited to the Santa Barbara IHCAFE office to receive the prize. not all the winners came from nearby producing areas, and some farmers even drove for hours.
