Recently, Xinmin Evening News reported that Shanghai Jiading police arrested a suspect for stealing equipment pretending to be an employee of a coffee shop.
It is understood that at the end of August, Nanxiang Police Station of Jiading Branch of Shanghai Public Security Bureau received feedback from the town grid platform, saying that when grid staff were patrolling a shopping mall in their jurisdiction, they found that a man was often in and out of a store that had been suspended recently and removed the coffee-making equipment from the store.
It was thought that the man was an original employee of the store and was carrying equipment according to the requirements of the store operator. What puzzled the grid clerk was that the employee only came every few days, and each time he hurriedly packed a piece of equipment and took it away, even turning a blind eye to the coffee beans spilled during the handling process, leaving them scattered all over the place.
If the staff of the store, they should take out the coffee beans in the bean warehouse in advance when carrying the equipment to avoid leakage. Even if you accidentally touch it, you may go back and clean up the mess after removing the equipment. But this employee did not make a similar move, which made the grid staff suspect that there might be something else, so they gave feedback through the Jia governance platform, and the platform contacted the Nanxiang police station as soon as the platform learned of it.
Just as the police began to investigate, the store operator reported to the local police station that his store had been stolen, and two bean grinders and a water boiled machine had been stolen, with a preliminary estimated loss of more than 40,000 yuan. After summarizing the clues reflected by the grid clerk, the police found that the three stolen devices were moved away by this "shop assistant". After that, the police verified with the operator that they had never arranged for the employees in the store to remove the equipment recently, and then used this as a clue to carry out a follow-up investigation.
On August 30, the police arrested the "employee" according to clues and seized all the stolen goods from his residence.
After interrogation, when the suspect truthfully confessed that he had been stolen from a coffee shop on August 11, he found that the back door of the shop was only hidden and unlocked, and that the closed shop was empty, so he became greedy. Nearby, he found waste cartons pretending to be clerks of handling equipment and stole a bean grinder in full view of the public.
After success, the suspect panicked for many days, but no one found his behavior, so he became bolder and returned to the scene on the night of August 23 and 25. What he never expected was that the coffee beans accidentally knocked over during the first burglary became the key factor for his rapid arrest after the crime.
At present, the suspect has been criminally detained by the public security organs on suspicion of theft, and the case is under further trial. Here, the police remind the broad masses of business owners not to relax their awareness of security in the course of daily business, and must carefully check whether the doors and windows of the shop are closed and locked before leaving the shop, so as to prevent those who have evil intentions from taking advantage of it.
