Recently, a netizen who works and lives in Toronto posted that he was tricked by a clerk at a local Tims store and almost applied for a credit card that he could not use.
The poster said that he recently went to the nearby Tims store to buy some food in order to consume gift cards from friends. During the ordering period at the counter, the male clerk who received himself claimed that if the user downloaded the official App now, he could get a gift card worth 20 yuan.
The customer said that his friends around him are using Tims's App, and after listening to the shop assistant's introduction, they feel that the operation is not complicated, so they download and install the application on the spot and register as required. However, in the registration process, the shop assistant snatched the mobile phone from the guest under the pretext of helping the guest to make it faster. When the customer sensed that something was wrong, the probe found that the employee was applying for a credit card.
This situation surprised customers, asking why it is necessary to apply for a credit card to get a gift card, and repeatedly asked the other party to return the phone. The clerk was vague about this and did not give a clear explanation, but he kept on filling in the personal information of the applicant.
The angry guest immediately claimed to complain to the store manager and ordered him to stop and take back his mobile phone, which stopped the employee's behavior.
Shortly before the post, another netizen in Vancouver shared a similar experience at the Tims store. She said that at that time, two clerks in the store loaded app to get a gift card on the grounds that they took away their mobile phones to apply for a credit card for themselves.
Due to the need for the applicant's personal information in the process, the shop assistant was found to be abnormal during the interview, which prevented the other party from operating. Afterwards, she was glad that she did not give all her personal information at that time, otherwise she might have been succeeded by the shop assistant, and used her own experience to remind others to be vigilant when they encounter similar routines.
In the comment area of the two posts, many netizens who are currently working and living in Canada have said that recently, many Tims staff will trick people into applying for credit cards when they order or pick up a meal.
They said that recently, Tims did launch a campaign that "registered members can get a 20 yuan gift card", but when promoting the introduction, the store staff deliberately concealed the necessary condition of "need to apply for a credit card" and took away the guest's mobile phone to help them complete the registration. In fact, they opened the relevant page of the credit card application to fill in personal information. When questioned by customers, shop assistants will try to make people believe them by saying that they can cancel their credit card application.
In addition, some customers said that some employees do not care whether the applicant meets the relevant conditions or ask for the personal information of the mobile phone owner, but write false applicant information after getting the phone to quickly complete the credit card application process.
Although, as the clerk said, you don't have to activate your credit card or contact the card issuer to cancel your application, many Canadian netizens remind customers to beware of shop assistants' tricks when spending at their local Tims stores, and not to let their phones fall into the hands of strangers for a little profit, so as to avoid information leakage.
