Recently, a netizen in Chongqing posted on social media, claiming that Chongqing Fuyue Huiman Coffee was demolished by a shopping mall in the middle of the night.
According to the poster, when he arrived at the store in the morning and was about to open the door for work, he found that the entire coffee shop had changed a lot overnight. The coffee machine, cash register and other equipment, tables, chairs and furnishings in the store were missing, and the interior decoration was all smashed to pieces. The entrance and exit of the coffee shop facing the interior of the mall is blocked, and the advertising poster of the next merchant that has settled in has been hung up.
The exquisite second-floor cafe was destroyed into a messy rough house overnight. This unexpected situation was unbelievable to both regular customers and coffee workers who often came to the store to consume.
The poster said that the store has signed a 10-year lease contract with the mall, which is the fifth year of performance of the lease and has not yet expired. During the store's operation, it has always paid store rent, water and electricity and other related fees on time. Even during the difficult epidemic period, the operator has never defaulted on any fees. However, the shopping mall removed the furnishings and forcibly demolished the decoration without prior notice, which is really incomprehensible.
After the incident, the store immediately chose to call the police and made a temporary notice on the decoration wooden boards and fence advertisements on the periphery of the store to explain the reasons to consumers, and said that after retrieving the cashier equipment and system removed by the store, the user's deposit money will be refunded as soon as possible. Another person familiar with the matter revealed that after receiving the report, the police were present to understand the relevant situation and contacted the operator to negotiate with the mall, but there was no specific result of the handling.
After the post was posted, many netizens were shocked by the experience of this man coffee company, but did not fully believe the accusation of the poster. Some people pointed out that last year, a man coffee shop in Beijing was cleared by a supermarket for failing to pay rent and other fees on time and ran away overnight. Therefore, in their view, Chongqing Mall suddenly forcibly demolished its Mani coffee store may have another hidden reason.
In this regard, the operator explained that although the store was originally a franchise store of the chain brand Man Coffee, it was later changed to operate independently and had no connection with the brand. As for the operation of the store, staff said that although the store does not often have a full house, many consumers come to visit and check in, and the store occasionally hosts gatherings of some fan groups. From this point of view, the operation of the coffee shop has been stable.
At the same time, as the popularity of posts increased, former tenants of the mall appeared in the comment area to speak up for the coffee shop based on their personal experiences. They said that this is not the first time that the mall involved has forcibly cleared merchants whose leases have not expired. Hot pot shops, jewelry stores and even chain brand Costa stores have all experienced forced demolitions by the mall and had to "disappear at the speed of light."
Several former tenants claimed that due to the sudden breach of contract by the mall, the store could not operate and suffered heavy losses, they sued their landlords to court, seeking a reasonable explanation and financial compensation. The onlookers also suggested that in addition to reporting the case to the local police station, operators should also use legal channels to protect their rights and interests and recover the losses of the store.
As of press time, the mall had not responded to the content of the complaint posted by the coffee shop. However, some passers-by noticed that the notice temporarily written by the merchants on the enclosure had been painted white and the original appearance could not be seen.
