Recently, some netizens posted on social platforms saying that they drank a big cockroach from coffee purchased by Starbucks.

The poster stated that at around 4 p.m. on May 29, a friend bought a cup of Mianyun Cold Extract at a Starbucks Nanjing Financial City store. After getting the drink, he drank half of it in the store. Then he left the store, and the cup of coffee remained in the car. He sat down at 8 p.m. before picking up the packaging cup again and showering it off. Later, he found a huge cockroach lying on the bottom of the cup in the bright light, which startled the person involved.

It can be clearly seen from the accompanying picture of the post that without the lid opened, there is a large cockroach at the bottom of the plastic cup, which is shocking at a glance. After the post was released, a group of users became worried about the hygiene conditions of Starbucks stores and left their opinions in the comment area.

In the public's impression, Starbucks has strict regulations on beverage production and store hygiene, while some Starbucks workers say that if such obvious foreign substances are mixed into the Mianyun Cold Extract ordered by customers, they should be noticed immediately and will not be handed over to consumers.

At the same time, the poster revealed in a comment interaction with netizens that after discovering the cockroach, a friend came to the store involved to complain. The staff immediately denied this, and said that after checking the monitoring, they found that there was no problem with the operation and there was no apology during the entire process.

In this regard, some onlookers believed that when the drink left the store for a long time, it was discovered that there was a foreign matter in the bottom of the cup. In fact, the possibility of cockroaches entering through the drinking port cannot be ruled out. From this point of view, it is not entirely due to negligence in the store's production process that consumers drink foreign matter, and it is understandable that the store refuses to compensate.

A media reporter who noticed the food safety incident contacted the relevant person in charge of the Starbucks store involved. The other party said that the consumer who gave feedback came to the store on May 30 and said that he had left the store with drinks for three and a half hours on the 29th. There was a foreign matter in the drink.

The person in charge said,"After learning about the situation, we immediately conducted a surveillance video verification with the consent of the consumer to confirm that the store had made drinks in strict accordance with the process specifications that day. After purchasing the drink at around 16:55, the customer drank it at the store and stayed for about 50 minutes. During this period, the customer drank it normally. At around 17:44, the customer picked up the ice cup twice and observed it carefully. No abnormalities were found, and then took the undrunk drink and left the store. "

After this incident occurred, the store has recently asked a third-party pest company to inspect the operating areas in the store, but no relevant problems were found. In addition, store employees told reporters that staff from the Food and Drug Administration have come to the store to understand the relevant situation and the incident is being handled.

According to Jiangsu News Radio, staff from the Market Supervision and Administration Bureau of the place where the Starbucks stores are involved went to the Starbucks stores on June 3 to conduct investigation and evidence collection."The store pest inspection and elimination records are complete, there are no abnormalities, and the employees are operating standard. We are compiling relevant reports."
