The heat of these days, I believe everyone has a deep understanding, especially in Guangzhou Qianjie is now half-ripe state, so urgently need a cup of cold extract rescue.

When talking about the details of making cold extraction, many people first consider what container to use, and then what coffee beans to buy, how finely to grind, how much water to add, how long to soak, etc. When selecting containers, they usually face two directions, one is to buy a special cold extraction pot, and the other is to find any sealable bottles and cans. If you don't have a great demand for cold extraction and just want to do it once or twice, the Front Street Association recommends that you directly find mineral water bottles to "deal with" it.

Benefits of using mineral water bottles for cold extraction

In terms of cost: the price of cold extraction pots on the market is about 40 - 200RMB, while a bottle of mineral water usually costs only two to three yuan. It can be simply cleaned and dried after being used, and can even be recycled 1 - 2 times.

In terms of water consumption: Each packaged mineral water bottle will be marked with its capacity, so when making coffee, we only need to confirm a relatively moderate concentration to get the approximate amount of powder used.

From an extraction perspective: A cold extraction pot with its own filter may be more convenient, but mineral water bottles allow coffee powder to fully contact with water, and then extract richer flavor substances without requiring comprehensive cleaning.

Tips to improve success rate

Give priority to using mineral water in the bottle or drinking purified water directly to make the coffee taste more thorough and avoid bringing bitter and miscellaneous flavors; you must never use warm water, otherwise it will melt the bottle and release plastic molecules.

In addition to regular mineral water, juice or milk is also feasible, but it must be rinsed before use. If possible, drink with a wider bottle neck is preferred to make it easier to pour powder.

Small bottles of mineral water on the market are generally between 300 and 550ml. Because space is reserved for coffee powder, 30 to 50ml need to be poured out before extraction. The recommended powder-to-water ratio given by Qianjie is 1:10~1:12, then the corresponding powder amount is 25 to 55g. For example, pour out 40ml of a 550-ml bottle of mineral water, and use a powder-to-water ratio of 1:12, and pour in about 42.5g of coffee powder; pour out 30ml of a 300-ml bottle, and use a powder-to-water ratio of 1:12, which corresponds to 22.5g of coffee powder.

A customer once asked Qianjie if we should use strict parameters like hand-washing when making cold extraction? Qianjie thinks it can be used because the whole process of cold extraction is in a low-temperature environment and the material release rate is very slow. As long as you do not adopt extreme values and choose a coffee bean that suits you, you can basically get a good taste.

The choice of coffee beans is the same as conventional cold extraction. Compared with deep-roasted coffee, which is mainly bitter, the success rate of selecting light to medium roasted beans is higher. If you like the refreshing taste, you will give priority to buying washed/sun-cured food. First choice is Qianjie Fruit Dingding, Qianjie Grana Rose Summer, and Qianjie Flower Kui; if you want a fruity iced coffee, you will recommend Qianjie Tomatoes, Qianjie Blackberries, and Qianjie Xizhao.

If you want to further enhance the taste, you can also add extra petals with their own fragrance, such as osmanthus and roses. Here, Qianjie uses the recently blooming jasmine in the store and soak it with Qianjie fruit tintin.

Method of making cold extraction from mineral water bottles

Prepare a 300ml bottle of mineral water, pour out 30 - 40ml and drink;

Grind 20g of Qianjie fruit tintin coffee beans, and control the particles to a sieve rate of 80 - 82% on China No. 20 sieve, EK43s-9.5 grids, and C40-22 grids;

Carefully pour the coffee powder into the mineral water bottle, using a filter cup like Qianjie did, then put the fresh jasmine flowers in, cover it, shake it up and down evenly, and place it in the refrigerator for refrigeration;

Soak for 6 - 1 ~ 2 hours, and shake it 1 - 2 times to speed up extraction;

When the time is up, take out the cold extract and filter out the coffee grounds (Note: There is no need to stir before pouring, just keep the coffee grounds sink to the bottom, so that it is not easy to cause slow filtration);

Then you can drink it directly, or you can add ice cubes to dilute and cool down according to your taste.

The cold extraction of Qianjie Fruit in this way has the fragrance of jasmine and green tea. The acidity of citrus and nectarine is outstanding but not irritating. It is cool and comfortable. The whole combination is very suitable for summer.
