Coffee is grown in 54 townships (towns) in 9 counties and 1 district of Pu'er City, directly benefiting more than 20,000 farmers. In 2010, the planting area of coffee reached 230000 mu, accounting for 52.8% and 50.5% of the province and the whole country respectively, with an output of 21000 tons and an output value of 450 million yuan, of which 12300 tons were exported, with an export value of 30.263 million US dollars. Yang Weidong believes that "the coffee industry has become a new characteristic industry for Pu'er City's financial growth, enterprise efficiency, and farmers' income to become rich."
