Scientists say that a cup of coffee contains more than a thousand compounds, of which more than one substance stimulates defecation, so they hope to find this mysterious laxative. At the beginning of the experiment, scientists thought the substance was caffeine in coffee. However, they later found that even drinking decaffeinated coffee had the same effect, while drinking cola with the same caffeine had no laxative effect.
