Huizhou Inspection and Quarantine Bureau intercepts kilograms of coffee beans in entry containers

Nanfang Daily (Reporter / Lin Yonghao correspondent / Gu Jianhui) this afternoon, the reporter learned from the Huizhou Inspection and Quarantine Bureau that recently, when the quarantine staff of the Bureau's Bijia Office inspected entry containers at the port, coffee beans were found scattered at the bottom of a waste plastic container entering from Australia. After cleaning and collection, there are more than 1000 grams. As the coffee beans are very likely to carry coffee bark beetles, in order to prevent the introduction of pests, quarantine personnel sent the coffee beans to the laboratory for further inspection and fumigated the container.

It is understood that the main host of coffee bark beetle is the fruits and seeds of coffee plants, and it will spread over a long distance with coffee fruits, beans, seeds and their packages. it is a quarantine pest stipulated by our country and one of the most important pests in coffee industry.
