New Caledonia Coffee Origin: KOUANDJI Manor

New Caledonia in Melanesia is an oasis in the South Pacific. It is a prosperous, beautiful and magnificent land. Whether it's an inaccessible beach, or an extravagant casino and nightclub, you can find it there. Of course, you can find something else if you like.
This is one of the best preserved precious secrets. One of the rarest, strangest and most expensive coffee, New Caledonia Coffee. Only the most knowledgeable coffee connoisseurs in the world know it.
In 1860, the missionary Marist brothers brought the first coffee seeds to Noum é a, the capital of New Caledonia.
In 1880, pioneers from the island of Reunion (Bourbon) also brought coffee seeds. These pioneers brought three varieties: Arabica species, Liberika species, and Coffea laurina species. In the end, Arabica and Laurina were selected by these pioneers for commercial cultivation.
In 1910, in order to resist leaf rust, (Coffea canephora) robusta was introduced from Java to New Caledonia. Coffea canephora is resistant to leaf rust.
More than 30 years ago, the cultivation of coffee played an important role in agriculture in New Caledonia. But it proved that other industries were more profitable and that over-labour-intensive coffee plantations were slowly abandoned. Since then, coffee production in New Caledonia declined year by year until it almost completely disappeared.
KOUANDJI Manor Coffee is located at the foot of the Kouandji Mountains 25 kilometers southeast of Noum é a, the capital of New Caledonia. Kouandji is a native language of Melanesia. Translated into French, it means "L à dazzo beautiful vient le soleil" which means the place where the sun rises. This is a local coffee company in New Caledonia whose goal is to revive the coffee industry in New Caledonia. The head of the company, Mr. Pierre Kochard, is a charismatic coffee connoisseur who only began to try to grow coffee on a six-hectare area a few years ago. Not long ago, however, his coffee "Rayloy" won a very authoritative French quality award.
The "Rayloy" species planted at KOUANDJI Manor is also known as the "bourbon pointed body". She also has a nickname "President". Because the Elysee Palace in the French presidential palace will buy regularly for former French President Jacques Chirac (where is the current president playing with women?) Enjoy. Unfortunately, her output is so low that even the president has to limit the supply.
Rayloy is a rare and unique variety of coffee found only on the island of New Caledonia. it is a natural variety of coffee on the island of Reunion (Bourbon) around 1860. There is another theory that she is a natural cross between Melanesia coffee and Arabica tin pickup. She is short in tree shape, narrow in leaves, drought-resistant and very prone to illness. So the output is very low.
Rayloy (Bourbon pointed body) has some unique characteristics that make her a unique breed.
1. Rayloy's caffeine content is only 50% of that of regular Arabica coffee. The usual Arabica coffee contains about 1.2% caffeine, while Rayloy has only 0.6%.
2. The beans are sharp at both ends.
3. The output of Rayloy is much lower than that of other coffee varieties.
4, less weight loss after roasting, common coffee varieties can lose 20% weight after roasting, while Rayloy's maximum weight loss ratio is only 16% Murray 17%.
Rayloy's coffee tree has strong drought tolerance.
New Caledonian coffee has become one of the most expensive coffee in the world not only because of its high quality and scarcity, but also because of its high production cost. New Caledonia is French territory, so labor costs are higher than in other coffee-producing countries.

Cross Gaoligong to Qiu Gonggong Coffee Manor
More than 100 years ago, missionaries from the West followed the caravan team to grow coffee with pure Arabica ancestry on this land in Yunnan after climbing Mount Gaoligong. For me, coffee is a clue, and it is as interesting as the introduction of Catholicism, Christianity and wine to Yunnan. The blue river flows against the huge mountains, and its momentum reminds me of western Sichuan.
