Kampala, Uganda, after months of efforts, the main export commodity coffee, reported earnings in volume and value in the international market, a new report said.
If this performance continues, Uganda has a chance to become the world's top five producers in the next few years.
The country has developed three new steps from the 10th position from 2014 to 2014 in Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia, Honduras, Indonesia and India.
Export growth
The latest statistics from the Ugandan Coffee Development Agency (UCDA) show that in July and October, the coffee calendar increased by 16% in volume and 18% in value. Uganda exported 403381 60 kg bags from 335405 60 kg bags in June.
"in total exports in July, China earned US $43 million in revenue from US $35 million (Shs154b) (Shs126b) value realized the previous month," the UCDA monthly report said.
Coffee exports reached 60 kg bags worth US $43.07 million in July 403381. This consists of 349486 60 kg bags ($35.05 million) of Robusta and Arabica, and 53895 60 kg bags ($8.02 million).
The major producing countries in Africa
Uganda is Africa's coffee exporter before Ethiopia. In 2014 and 2015, the country exported 244 million bags and 27160 million bags, compared with 1970 million and 221 million bags in Ethiopia, respectively.
According to UCDA, in August this year, exports are expected to be 320000 bags. The harvest is in Masaka and the southern region, and the choice of July is expected to dissipate in August and September.
