At present, the laboratory has carried out more than 180 tests for pesticide residues, heavy metals, physical and chemical projects, and so on. With the goal of building the "coffee capital of China" and building the brand of "Pu'er Coffee", three Pu'er Coffee Raw Bean Competition and three "Pu'er Coffee Competition for thousands of people in 100 cities and Pu'er Coffee Cup" have been held. "Pu'er Coffee" has been gradually recognized and known as a regional brand.

At present, the planting area of coffee in the city has reached 757000 mu, which has been put into production of 402300 mu, with an output of 39900 tons and a total output value of 1.2 billion yuan. Pu'er coffee has been exported to more than 30 countries and regions, including the Americas, Europe and Asia. The coffee industry of Pu'er has benefited more than 251500 people from 75000 households in 83 townships in 10 counties and districts of the city, and at the same time has led to the planting of 300000 mu in Myanmar, Laos and other neighboring countries. Pu'er has become the main coffee producing area with the largest planting area, the highest yield and the best quality in China and an important coffee trading and distribution center.

The cultivation of Pu'er coffee began in 1892, and it is one of the earliest areas in Asia to grow coffee. Since the large-scale cultivation in 1988, the Pu'er coffee industry has shown a momentum of rapid development. At present, the coffee industry has become an advantageous and characteristic industry for farmers to get rich, enterprises to increase efficiency, financial income and export to earn foreign exchange in Pu'er City. In 2014, the planting area of coffee in Pu'er City reached 50500 hectares, with an output of 39900 tons, with a total output value of 1.2 billion yuan, and exported 28200 tons of coffee, earning US $69 million in foreign exchange. At present, the planting area, output and output value of Pu'er coffee rank first in Yunnan Province. At the same time, Nestl é, Maxwell, Starbucks and other world coffee giants have been stationed in Pu'er for a long time to carry out business cooperation, and coffee industry groups such as Aiyi, Beigui, Kangnbe, Manya, Manlaojiang and other coffee industry groups have emerged. In December 2012, Pu'er City was awarded the title of "Coffee Capital of China" by China Fruit Circulation Association, and Yunnan Coffee Trading Center was unveiled in Pu'er City in July 2014.
