Croatia: world Poetry Day "Poetry for Coffee"
In order to celebrate World Poetry Day on March 21, more than 250 cafes across Croatia held "poetry for coffee" activities at the same time. People can enjoy free coffee in a cafe as long as they bring a poem, lyrics or emotional words.
Simonetta is the manager of a cafe in Zagreb, Croatia. 'in fact, there is poetry in everyone's heart,'he said. Poetry for Coffee provides you with an opportunity to express your feelings and release yourself by writing poems on World Poetry Day. He hopes that everyone can get inspiration and write wonderful poems while drinking coffee.
The reporter saw a group of medical college students "writing poetry" in a cafe in Zagreb. One of the students from France said, "I'm brewing it. I'm going to write it in French." His companions said that although they are not literature majors, they love to read poetry, and today they will try to write a poem.
A girl who has just written a poem told the reporter that it is now a fashion to read and write poems, which is becoming more and more popular among young people. She said: "using poetry to describe the joys and sorrows in life and to express our inner passion and sadness will make our life more wonderful."
According to event organizers, this year is the fourth year in a row that Croatia has held a poem-for-coffee event with other countries on World Poetry Day. During last year's event, people from 34 countries and regions around the world wrote 100000 poems.
In November 1999, UNESCO proclaimed March 21 as World Poetry Day to promote poetry reading, writing, publishing and teaching around the world.
