It is rumored that Japanese UCC Coffee will set up a coffee sightseeing factory in Douliu City. Yunlin Prefectural Government confirmed that it did set up a factory in the Duliu Industrial Zone, but the company has not yet submitted an application. Su Kongzhi, director of construction, said that he is not sure about the scale of the investment, but he is very welcome and happy to see it succeed.

UCC will spend 700 million yuan to build a coffee sightseeing factory in Douliu, which is expected to open next year to provide consumers with a taste of baking, the Industrial and Commercial Times reported.

Su Kongzhi, director of construction, said that he had not yet received an application for the project, but he had heard about it from the manufacturers in the Dou-6 Industrial Zone. The factory was adjacent to the Yimei Food Factory, but there was no relationship between the two companies.

Yimei Food Co., Ltd. broke ground in Dou Liu Industrial Zone in December 2016, spending 1 billion yuan to build an automated bean, milk and tea beverage production plant, which will apply for a "sightseeing factory" in the future.

Douliu Industrial Zone is not the largest, but it is the most labor-intensive industrial area in the county. There are four sightseeing factories in the area, namely, Datong Soy Sauce, Chaolu Fish Shop, Tino bedding and Guge Care products.

In 1949, Douliu had a coffee factory set up by the Agricultural Restoration Association, which is the only one so far. at that time, the government spent 5 million yuan to import a full set of coffee-making machines from Germany, including dryers, sorting machines, coffee roasters, shelling machines, packaging machines, and so on. The baking room is about 3 ping big, and each time it can bake 200 pounds of coffee, which costs 200 yuan per pound.

Due to the blight of coffee trees in Gukeng and the poor management of the factory, Douliu Coffee Factory shut down in 1967, and the machinery in the factory was treated as scrap iron, which entered the history. Hsieh Shu-ya, mayor of Douliu, said that Douliu is the hometown of Taiwan's coffee baked beans, and historically speaking, it is most suitable for UCC to build a coffee factory. Although Dou Liu is an outsider, it is a happy event to be able to recreate the memory of Dou Liu Coffee Factory, and I am happy to see it succeed.

Sun Wangtian, a former head of agricultural economics in Gukeng Township, says that coffee beans have to be roasted before they smell good, and he is very happy to see Taiwan coffee smell again in the factory of Douliu.
