Peruvian coffee has become one of the best coffee in the world. The coffee of Raul Mamani in Puno Province won the award of "best quality coffee" at the Global Professional Coffee World Expo held in Seattle, USA in 2017. High-quality coffee opens the door to the world for Peru.
Coffee exports reached US $614.2 million in 2015, and coffee exports increased by 23.6% to US $759.2 million in 2016. The Ministry of Agriculture and the National Coffee Association estimate that Peruvian coffee exports are expected to exceed US $1 billion in 2017. In order to achieve this goal, the two sides jointly put forward the "National Coffee planting Plan", which aims to achieve better coordination in investment, cultivation and export.
According to the head of the National Coffee Association, the main factor affecting coffee exports is the high cost of land transportation, which has greatly increased the cost of coffee. It is hoped that the government can improve the construction of national transportation infrastructure as soon as possible.
The Ministry of Agriculture plans to renew 80,000 coffee trees in the next two years. At present, the planting area of Peruvian coffee exceeds 300000 hectares.
