At the recent symposium on food chemistry at the annual meeting of the American Chemical Society, there is new scientific evidence that coffee contains powerful antioxidants that protect the heart and blood vessels. The study, led by Professor J. A. Vinson of University of Scranton University in Pennsylvania, found that coffee contains high levels of polyphenols (Polyphenols), sometimes called flavonoids (flavonids), which are powerful antioxidants that fight oxidation and blood clotting.
