Starbucks launched its first coffee bean from a single producing area in China, Starbucks Yunnan Coffee beans, which went on sale simultaneously in all Starbucks stores in China as a New year gift to Chinese coffee lovers in 2017.

The coffee is available in all Starbucks stores in mainland China for a limited time and uses 100% high-quality Arabica coffee beans grown in Yunnan. This is another milestone in the cooperation between Starbucks Yunnan Coffee growers support Center and local coffee farmers over the past four years.

Yunnan plays an important strategic role for Starbucks to expand its business in China. Starbucks Yunnan Coffee grower support Center was established in Pu'er, Yunnan Province in 2012 to guide Starbucks and Yunnan coffee farmers to continuously improve coffee quality while promoting long-term sustainable coffee cultivation to raise social, economic and environmental protection standards.

Over the past four years, Starbucks Yunnan grower support Center has trained nearly 10000 people, and more than 1200 coffee farms have passed C.A.F.E.Practices certification, with a total planting area of more than 11000 hectares.

Starbucks has a long history of cooperation with Yunnan coffee farmers. In early 2009, as part of Starbucks' 10th anniversary celebration in China, Fengwu Xiangyun Integrated Coffee, the first comprehensive coffee bean made from Yunnan coffee beans in China and coffee beans from other producing areas, was launched. It is now available at Starbucks stores in many parts of Asia and the United States.
