At the end of 1990s, coffee was listed as a key bio-industry in Yunnan Province, from which Yunnan coffee began to enter the fast lane of development. In September 2000, the 18th Office of the provincial government organized a group of coffee enterprises and advanced coffee farmers to visit the coffee market and plant and process in the United States and Brazil.
Yang Fakuan of Dahongpo Coffee Cooperative Co., Ltd. participated in the inspection. During his stay in Brazil, Yang Fakuan became interested in Brazilian yellow coffee (Yang Fakuan didn't know what the variety name was at that time, so he called it yellow coffee) and took a part of yellow coffee to Lujiangba for trial planting. Due to the more balanced maturity of this variety of coffee fruit, fruit uniformity, effective grade rice ratio is higher, so it is loved by growers. Subsequently, farmers in nearby villages such as Mangliu and Manhai also introduced varieties one after another.
At present, the yellow coffee planted by Dahongpo Cooperative has become a forest. Other villages are scattered into blocks.
2011-2012 In 2000, in order to find out the varieties of this part of coffee, I personally went to Dahongpo to inspect. Based on the collected samples and morphological analysis of the trees, it can be basically determined that this part of the coffee tree introduced by Yang Fakuan is Bourbon or Bourbon variety Kadura.
Origin, Present Situation and Effect of Yunnan Coffee Yellow Bourbon Species
Interestingly, during the investigation, professional coffee grower Fan Qizao provided us with a clue that there are yellow coffee trees more than 20 years old. We visited the site and collected fruit samples. It is obvious that the shape and leaf shape and color of this part of the tree are indeed different from those introduced by Yang Fakuan, and the grower's statement on the age of coffee planting is also before 2000. This proves the existence of Bourbon variant yellow coffee in the original old variety!
Although the effect of yellow bourbon introduced by Yang Fakuan is good in Dahongpo, there are also some poor effects in other introduced places, mainly in small particle size and high shell bean rate (some samples have shell bean rate as high as 20%). Therefore, the suitability and specific cultivation management of these coffees have yet to be proved by new experiments.
More than 200 kg of Yunnan coffee yellow bourbon introduced by Yang Fakuan were harvested in 2012 for taste analysis. The findings are as follows: 1. high alcohol content, comparable to local old bourbon (non-yellow coffee);2. moderate acid feeling;3. mild fragrance, delicate texture;4. long sweet, clear and thorough.
This kind of taste feeling performance, it is easy to imagine such a picture: two orioles singing green willows, a line of egrets in the sky; the window contains the west ridge thousand autumn snow, the door moored Wu ten thousand miles boat.
