Biftu Gudina cooperative

The Biftu Gudina Cooperative is a group of 138 farmers based in Goma. The cooperative is part of a new "Limu" alliance, the Quetamedu Alliance (Keta Meduga Union), established in 2016. The alliance unites 20 cooperatives in the Agaro region, one of the most promising coffee producing areas in Ethiopia.

The coffee is produced in a semi-forest agricultural system and is produced on 1 to 20 hectares of smallholder farms. The cherries were sent to the water washing station of the cooperative and pulped with a Penagos pulp machine. The mucus was removed mechanically after fermentation for 12 hours. Dry on an elevated drying bed for 6-7 days.
