Kalita as an extraction method
The Karita cake cup is a filter cup, similar to Chemex or V60, used to make clean cups. This is in sharp contrast to full immersion extraction (such as French Press or Clever).
However, although similar to Chemex or V60, the Karita Cake Cup has a significantly different extraction configuration. It is characterized by a flat bottom with three extraction holes rather than water dripping through a single hole. This removes any channel of water in the coffee bed, resulting in a very crisp cup. The contact between the eyedropper and the filter is also very small, which ensures the consistency of the temperature and the uniform dispersion of the water.
