In 1981, Francisco Manchame, a coffee grower in Camotan, Chijimura, established a small Catimor plantation near the Pacamara tree. A plant with high vigor, high yield and big cherry was obtained by natural hybridization. After more than 30 years of screening, Anacafe-14 varieties have been completed, in addition to the above characteristics, but also have rust resistance, drought resistance and good cup-shaped quality.

The natural intersection that produced this change took place in the village of El Tesoro, on the Bellas Flores de Oriente property, the property of Mr. Francisco Manchame. In 1984, when the producer observed the new characteristics of the plant, he began to harvest the best cherries and set up a new garden made up entirely of the new plant. This first plantation gave birth to a generation.

In 2005, after visiting a plot belonging to a Mr. Guerra in a real estate, a technical consultant detected the new factory from Anacafe area VII (Zacapa and Chiquimula), which was shared and realized by Mr. Manchame, who initiated a project to verify the characteristics of the new tree. After 9 years of research, valuable characteristics have been found, such as rust resistance, drought tolerance, good nutritional vitality and high productivity, and varieties are generally released to the public.

The variety known as Anacafe-14 is short, well branched and oval in fruit, which is larger than standard coffee cherries. Anacafe is currently conducting adaptability studies in other coffee growing areas in China.
