2020 is a special year. For many enterprises, most people may describe this year as "bad". Fortunately, this year has passed, and there will be new hopes in the new year. For example, Vietnam's coffee export is expected to achieve new achievements this year.

In 2020, due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the global market demand for coffee dropped sharply, and Vietnam's coffee exports also performed poorly. Compared with 2020, Vietnam's coffee exports are expected to break through last year's bottleneck in 2021.

Vietnam is the world's second largest coffee producer and the largest Robusta coffee producer. According to Vietnam People's Daily, statistics from the Agricultural Processing and Market Development Bureau of Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development show that Vietnam's coffee exports in 2020 will be 1.51 million tons, earning US $2.66 billion, down 8.8% and 7.2% year-on-year respectively.

APMA said coffee stocks in global port warehouses had fallen to their lowest level in years, following four consecutive years of declining coffee markets. However, the country said it is expected to achieve good results for Vietnam's coffee exports this year!

In 2020, the average export price per ton of coffee will reach about $1759, and coffee prices are expected to rise this year.

Vietnam's main coffee export markets continue to take social distance measures, the chairman of Vietnam Coffee Cocoa Association said: tourism is a huge coffee consumption industry, coffee export prices can rise largely depends on the tourism industry in the post-epidemic era recovery level.

On the other hand, the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) may push Vietnamese coffee to the world, which will also help promote coffee exports.

Compared with other countries exporting coffee to the EU, the EU's commitment to protect coffee in Vietnam's 39 geographical indications after EVFTA came into effect has become a competitive advantage for Vietnam's coffee industry.

Europe is a large export market for Vietnamese coffee, accounting for 40% of total exports. Under the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the EU abolished tariffs on all unroasted or roasted coffee products and processed coffee, which came into effect on August 1, 2020. In addition to preferential tariffs, coffee exports to Europe will also be larger.

In addition, the country stated that by 2030, it aimed to generate $6 billion in coffee export revenues.
