Glenburn Tea Garden is located in Rangli Rangliot CD block, Sadar District, Darjeeling, West Bengal, India.

Of the 750 hectares (1900 acres) of Glenburn Tea Estate, there is a 350 hectare (860 acres) reserve forest known as Simbong Forest. Rangeet and rundung two rivers flow through the tea plantation. Tea plantations range from 1000 to 3000 feet (300 to 910 meters) above sea level.

Glenburn Tea Plantation produces the best Darjeeling tea. It specializes in black tea, but also produces other varieties.

At the beginning of the nineteenth century, as the East India Company's monopoly on the Chinese tea trade was drawing to a close, the need to develop an alternative source of tea supply within the British Empire was recognized.

Lord William Bentick, the viceroy of the time, was entrusted with the task, and soon the Indian tea industry was born.

One of the first areas to be found suitable for tea plantations was the Doon Valley, situated in the foothills of the Himalayas, which also happens to be the ancestral home of the Prakash family. Lala Darshanlal, from this family, started his career as a small tea farmer managed by the British.

Over the years, he has acquired the expertise needed to grow and process all kinds of tea. When India gained independence in 1947, he was elected head of the East Hope Town Company. It was a symbol of British respect for his ability to grow.

He acquired valuable tea plantations in high-quality tea plantation areas across India. This includes Assam, Darjeeling, Duas, Terai, Himachal Pradesh, South India and, of course, Deraton. Lara Dalchamar never wanted to be the biggest in the business, but the best.

With his expertise in all aspects of tea cultivation-from selecting the right clone for a particular soil and climatic condition to picking and pruning tea trees and his knowledge of tea processing techniques-the Chaiwala family was quickly hailed as producers of the best quality tea.

Glenburn strives to reach out to tea lovers around the world. In their home town of Dehra Dun, the family was so closely associated with the tea industry that even after they moved to other parts of the country, the third generation patriarch declared…"There we were called the 'Chaiwala' family, which means tea farmer in the local language."- Sudhir prakash In the 1960s, the Chaiwala family produced over 10 million kilograms of Indian tea as a single commercial unit.

Over time, the family grew and their property was divided among the descendants of enthusiastic tea farmers. Some of the original plantations were sold and promising new ones acquired.

Hongai Tea Estate and Glenburn Tea Estate in Darjeeling Assam are currently owned and managed by Sudhir Prakash, grandson of Lala Darshanlal, and his family.

Sudhir Prakash, a well-known and respected member of the Indian tea industry, recently retired from his position as Chairman of the prestigious Tea Research Association. Other family members actively involved in the tea business include Anshuman(his son), Sidhant(his nephew), Radhika(his sister-in-law) and Husna-Tara(his daughter-in-law), who recently introduced the concept of "tea tourism" into the family business model.

Opened in 2002, Glenburn Boutique Hotel has been named one of the 101 Best Hotels in the World by The Tatler Travel Guide and has been featured in numerous international publications including Conde Nast Traveller. All members of the Prakash family love tea: it's a way of life for them, a way of life they've come to love.

Glenburn Tea Garden Spring 2021 tea has a light taste, sweet and delicate, delicate taste, fresh and bright flowers, a hint of fresh grass and stone fruit.
