Crookshank, a native Englishman, planted a tea plantation called Bara Ringtong in Darjeeling. He lives in London with his family and frequents the garden. On one trip, he brought his daughter and wife along. Their youngest daughter Margaret fell in love with this beautiful garden. On that fateful visit in 1927, their vacation came to an end. When it was time for Margaret to return to England, her last words to her father were,"I wish I could come back to the tea garden." During her four-month voyage to England, she fell ill and died of a tropical disease.

Mr. Krusek was very sad and often walked in the garden to find peace. One day he thought he saw Marguerite sitting in her favorite spot in the tea garden. He thought it was news that Margaret wanted to come back. That year, in memory of Margaret, he changed the name of the garden from Badalington to Margaret's Hope. Even today, one hears stories of a young white girl wandering the garden, and we speculate that it may be Margaret's spirit wandering the garden, or that she is now the guardian angel of Margaret's hope. All we know is that the garden is a vivid memory of a father's love for his daughter Margaret. This garden is famous for producing Darjeeling tea. As early as 1864, this revered tea plantation was known as Bara Ringtong and renamed Margaret's Hope in 1927. It is a picturesque garden with two rivers flowing through it and incredible views of Himalayan peaks. We came to this iconic tea plantation to sample this freshly made Indian single estate tea. Medium-bodied, with lively Mirabelle plum and nutty red berry flavours, experience a wonderful Indian summer harvest of 2021! Bouquet: Soft notes of oak, shelled nuts, plums and red berries Appearance: Deep amber Taste: Moderate and crisp on the palate, rich on the palate, soft woody at first, then fading, resonating with sweet Mirabelle plum aromas. Subtle earthy notes combine with nutty, shelled notes to add depth and lively intensity to the wine. The soft red berry flavor is distinctly persistent and is what makes this legendary tea estate a memorable summer pick for black tea. Dry leaf aroma: roasted nuts, Italian shortbread, light cocoa and delicate amber appearance: tightly rolled, dark brown leaves with some buds and some, open brown leaf cuttings Brewing aroma: bark, moist earth, plant with soft musky nuances Appearance: short, semi-open, mixed dark copper and matte green leaves; some with detached stems
