Recently, Ningbo Daily and other media reported that the Tims coffee shop in Tianyi Square was officially closed.

It is understood that the store, which opened on April 30, 2021, is the first store for Tims to enter Ningbo. In the memories of local residents, when the coffee shop opened, the door was full of customers who came to sign in, and many of them could still remember the signature cup of fresh coffee they bought at Tims for the first time.

With the passage of time, the store has become the residence of many citizens around, including office workers with computers in their arms and students who study by themselves in the store. In the impression of passers-by, even on weekdays with low traffic, the store will not have very few guests, and on weekends, customers who enter the store may have to wait a while before they have a seat available.

However, in less than four years, the Tims store, which smelled of coffee and baked bread in the air, suddenly posted a closure notice on the front door, which surprised users. According to the closing notice, Tims Ningbo's first store was closed on February 28th, 2025 due to business adjustment. The reporter also confirmed the news of the closure to Tianyi Square and learned that the square is negotiating with another brand to settle in.

When they heard that the first shop in Ningbo was about to close, the frequent patrons were saddened by the fact that they were unable to open the shop on the first day it opened, "I just went to drink this month," and "I often order takeout, but I actually want to close it." Regular users rushed to the store to buy coffee and bagels to take photos to commemorate the coffee shop's last day of business.

While waiting for the meal, a reporter noticed that the processing time of the order was longer than usual, and asked the staff to know that at present, there was only one employee in the kitchen handling all orders, so the speed of serving meals was not as fast as usual.

Apart from feeling, the curious onlookers naturally discussed the reasons for closing the shop. Most people speculate that the location of the store is conspicuous and covers a large area, and the store rent should be higher, thinking that it may be after the contract between the brand and Tianyi Square expires, Tims takes into account that the store profit cannot afford the high rent, so it chooses to close the shop and stop loss in time.

Some people also believe that in addition to the high rent, the competitive environment in Tianyi Square may also be one of the factors that prompted Tims to close its store. They pointed out that at present, there are more coffee brands for consumers to choose from in the business circle, including head brands Starbucks and Piye, as well as Lucky and Manner brands that are economical and affordable. Tims, which is lack of product innovation and low performance-to-price ratio, is difficult to highlight its own characteristics in peer competition, so in the eyes of regular customers, it is reasonable for Tims to give up this store.

So far, the number of Tims stores in Ningbo has shrunk to 13. Although there is no news of the closure of these stores for the time being, some consumers said that "the air conditioners of one of Baolong's stores were not turned on very much in the second half of last year," raising concerns about whether the operating conditions of other Tims stores are not optimistic.
