Recently, netizens in Wuhan posted on social platforms saying that two stores in Xiaoshenxian Teahouse, a sub-brand owned by Tea Yan Yuese, were closed one after another in Wuhan.
According to local citizens, the two closed Xiaoshenxian teahouses are located on Lihuangpi Road and Laotongcheng respectively. They are one of the first stores opened when Tea Yan Yuese introduces its sub-brand to Wuhan in 2023. Loyal users recalled that after Tea Yan Yuese opened its first Xiaoshenxian Tea House in Vientiane City, Wuhan, it announced in a high-profile manner that it would open four new stores in 2023.
However, this plan did not proceed in accordance with the brand's expectations. Except for the Lihuangpi Road Store, Laotongcheng Store and the Vientiane First Store, the other stores in preparation in Wuhan quietly terminated preparations. In June 2024, due to insufficient passenger flow, Xiaoshenxian Tea House Vientiane City Store's performance fell short of expectations and was officially closed.
Although Cha Yan Yuese announced at that time that the closure of Xiaoshenxian Teahouse's first store in Wuhan "was a normal store optimization, from the outside world's perspective, this signal may be a sign of the contraction of the sub-brand. Today, the two remaining Xiaoshenxian teahouses in Wuhan City have been permanently closed on January 19, which undoubtedly confirms previous speculation from the outside world and also means that Chayan Yuese's sub-brand positioned as a "Chinese Slow Tea House" has completely withdrawn from the Wuhan market.
Many fans in Wuhan were surprised and sorry to see the teahouse that they had accompanied for three years disappear from the official Mini programs. In their impression, the two teahouses are located in the Internet celebrity cultural tourism district. There is an endless stream of people going to check in to take photos. On weekends and holidays, the stores are particularly lively, and it seems that business will not be too bad.
However, nearby citizens revealed that the two stores mainly rely on tourist traffic. On weekdays, the store's business is sluggish. With the decline and growth, they speculated that both stores should be at a loss, which forced the brand to close them. Stop losses in a timely manner.
On the other hand, tea consumers nowadays pursue "fast and convenient", and leaving after selling out is a reflection of the real life of most users. However, when Cha Yan Yuese first created the "Xiaoshenxian Teahouse", it featured hand-brewed tea drinks, cake desserts, etc., allowing consumers to slow down and sit in the store to experience Chinese tea culture and teahouse atmosphere. This seems to many netizens, it is actually not in line with the current tea consumption needs.
At the same time, they pointed out that in addition to Wuhan, Xiaoshenxian Teahouse is actually not in good condition in the Changsha base camp where tea is pleasant. It is understood that in 2025, Changsha's Xiaoshenxian Teahouse will begin to shrink, and the number of its stores will gradually shrink from 10 at its peak to 3 stores concentrated in the city's core business district.
Therefore, in the view of some netizens, Xiaoshenxian Teahouse's business model is "incompatible with the needs of tea consumers." Considering the actual situation such as brand operating costs, it is reasonable to shrink the color of tea and adjust the size of sub-brand stores.
