Coffee Smart Cup Filter Cup Use Steps Share! How long does the hand-brewed coffee take and how much water does it take?
Qianjie often says that the Smart Cup is a very versatile coffee appliance. Its appearance is not much different from that of a conventional filter bowl. The only difference is that it has a valve at the bottom that can adjust the water flow. But we cannot underestimate the installation of this valve. By controlling the opening, closing or closing degree of this valve, we can freely change the extraction mode of coffee and the rate of drainage. Of course, it can also help some novice friends do some operations that are difficult to do when they first started, such as "perfect steaming."
As we all know, the purpose of steaming is to emit carbon dioxide from the body of coffee beans, improve the extraction efficiency of subsequent hot water injection, and help us make a pot of coffee with a strong flavor. When steaming, we only use a small amount of hot water to moisten the coffee powder, in order to retain more hot water until the steaming is completed and then inject it, thereby maximizing the extraction efficiency. Generally, the amount of water used for steaming is twice the amount of water used for powder, because this is exactly the amount of water that can be absorbed by dry coffee powder.
However, there is a disadvantage if the amount of water is too small, that is, the hot water does not penetrate vertically downward, so sometimes it is easy to happen that the coffee powder at the bottom is not wetted and the steaming and exhaust is uneven, especially when novices are just getting started. The water flow will not be controlled, or when using a conical filter cup, this will be more likely to happen on a thick powder bed. The smart cup can allow all coffee powder to come into contact with hot water and be fully steamed because it has a valve to control the water. As long as we close the valve before steaming, the hot water injected in subsequent steaming can be "locked" in the filter cup to form a soak. In this way, even the coffee powder at the bottom can be wetted by water and then fully steamed, which is very practical ~
But some friends may have doubts about this behavior, because coffee powder is soaked in water for as long as 30 seconds, so they may worry about whether it will be excessive. It doesn't matter, next, Qianjie will share with you through practice. Will this be too exciting?
Brewing sharing The coffee beans used in front of this brewing are Front Street Grana Rose Summer. It uses sun treatment and medium-to-light baking. The brewed coffee will have a very full flavor of flowers and fruits. It is a classic Ethiopian coffee flavor and is extremely cost-effective; then in terms of smart cups, Front Street uses Hario's Switch Smart Cup. The conical structure of the cup body can increase the thickness of the powder bed, allowing the coffee we brew to have more layers. The extraction parameters are as follows: the amount of powder used is 15g, the ratio of powder to water is 1:15, the degree of grinding is 75%~80% of the sieving rate of No. 20 sieve, the brewing water temperature is 92°C, three-stage brewing, and the extraction time is 2 minutes. The parameters are the same as those we use with ordinary filter cups. Of course, the form of water injection is the same. However, before steaming and injecting water, we will close the valve first to prevent hot water from seeping down, and then start injecting water.
Inject twice the amount of powder, i.e. 30ml, and then wait for 30 seconds.
After 30 seconds we opened the valve and started making coffee. Similarly, the amount of water injected in the second stage is 120ml, which is injected around a large circle with moderate water flow.
When the hot water injected in the second stage has completely permeated, we will continue to inject the hot water in the third stage. A total of 75ml of hot water in this section is injected around a small circle with a small water flow.
When the third section of hot water is completely penetrated, we can remove the smart cup and end the extraction. Then shake it properly to mix the coffee liquor well, and then you can start tasting our coffee.
The Qianjie Grana Rose Summer brewed in this way is no different from the usual Qianjie brewed in an ordinary filter cup, and it is also very delicious. You can obviously drink the flavors of apricot, citrus, berries, and oolong tea. It has a balanced taste, a full taste, and a long aftertaste. It's very good ~ So if you are a new friend and have a smart cup in your hand, then you might as well try it. This practice can really help you make a cup of delicious coffee more easily when you first come into contact with brewing ~
