General knowledge of Frozen Storage of small Fruit Coffee seed
The French Institute for Development Research has recently successfully invented a long-term frozen storage method for coffee seeds, thus providing a reliable means for establishing coffee seed banks and protecting biodiversity. Coffee belongs to Rubiaceae evergreen shrubs or small trees, mainly produced in tropical areas, there are small fruit coffee, coffee and large fruit coffee and so on. Small fruit coffee originated in Arabia, is currently the world's most cultivated one. However, long-term preservation of coffee seeds has long been considered difficult, if not impossible, due to their poor cold tolerance. According to reports, the method invented by the French Development Institute is mainly divided into four steps: the first step is seed drying and dehydration, the second step is slow cooling and rapid immersion in liquid nitrogen, the third is reheating, and finally rehydration.
The researchers say this method can ensure that the reserve tissue of coffee seeds is not damaged, so that seeds can be preserved for a long time.
