After a 15-year follow-up study of 20,000 people, researchers at the Finnish National Centre for Public Health concluded that people who drank too much coffee had a significantly increased risk of rheumatoid arthritis.

People who drank more than four cups of coffee a day doubled their risk of developing arthritis, the study said.

The authors of the report say more research is needed to determine what substances in coffee cause arthritis.
